I’ve almost finished my book and am now starting preparations to market it. Please do not take this as a “how-to” blog. I am just relating what I am doing. Keep in mind that I am new to blogging. I welcome any advice offered in the comments.
I just received the final edits from one of the beta readers. I need to go over those editorials and make appropriate revisions.
A beta reader is someone who reviews an unpublished manuscript and provides feedback from the perspective of a target audience member before it goes to a professional editor or is submitted for publishing. These editors identify issues with plot, pacing, character, etc. One beta reader who is an avid reader and has a great understanding of what might help the book do what I am hoping it will, is that last beta reader. She has made some suggestions that I think are exactly what is needed. So, besides a few tweaks, I will add a couple of short chapters that she suggested.
Meanwhile, I am working on setting up social media programs and familiarizing myself with them. I am not as computer literate as I would like to be but am told this is the way books are marketed these days.
Thank you to all my beta readers for their great input!
On an unhappy note, in the process of getting my feet wet in the social media world, I was defrauded. The case seems to be resolved now but not without a great deal of emotional angst.
My next blog will detail that fraud and what I did in response. Again, I am not an expert in the field and am just relating my experience and what I did in response. I hope to get some feedback that will help me understand this world of social media that I would like to shun.
